Since 1994 Green Hill with the support of the government, donors and relevant stakeholders has been extensively

working on some development areas such as safe water, sanitation and hygiene promotion, improving the quality of primary education, basic and reproductive health service, enterprise development and promotion, strengthening the capacity of local government institutions and traditional social governance, women empowerment, agriculture and market development, sexual and reproductive health and rights, community legal service, combating child marriage, stopping gender based violence, social cash transfer, financial inclusion, child rights, youth empowerment, disaster preparedness and emergency response. This assiduous effort has added significant contribution to the socio-economic development and empowerment of the CHT people and also to the national and global sustainable development goals. However, we think this is not the end and we still have a long way to go.   

Though the country has made significant progress in different development sectors, the three hill districts of the CHT region still lag far behind from the streamline of national development. Extreme poverty, maternal, neo natal and under-five mortality, increasing gender-based violence in new forms and dynamics, unemployment of the youths, mirage of peace and climate change vulnerability etc. are the areas of growing concern. Apart from the geographic challenges, we have sustainability of development as a major challenge. Due to foreign donors’ funding crisis for the last few years including Green Hill the entire NGO society members of the CHT faced many challenges for their survival. Otherwise, development effort could be more comprehensive and vibrant!!

Significant number of populations living at the extreme hard-to-reach and border areas of the CHT are still deprived of having adequate access to safe water and sanitation, quality education, health, women empowerment, climate resilience and economic empowerment etc. We hope the global and national situation would be gradually stable and foreign donors and other agencies would again come forward to extend their helping hand generously to help the relegated people of the CHT to lead a peaceful life with prosperity, solidarity, dignity and humanity.
