Inauguration ceremony of Media Strategy Workshop.

Under PROGGATI project Green Hill organized 03 days Media Strategy Workshop for CSOs and journalists of print and electronic media. The workshop was held on 16-18 June 2011 at Conference room, District Sports Association, Rangamati, Bangladesh; conducted by SoMaSHTe-Society for Media and Suitable Human-communication Techniques. 24 participants including o6 women (25%) were present in the workshop.

The aim of the Media Strategy Workshop was to ensure the role of media as a watchdog, so that PROGGATI project can disseminate and promote its democracy and good governance activity.

The participants were provided with a range of knowledge and skills necessary for ensuring good governance, human rights and democracy through this workshop. Indigenous peoples’ rights, Right to Information Act and topics on journalism including investigative reporting, feature, issue-based reporting and media advocacy were particularly discussed in the workshop.  The training course was a mixture of theory and practical sessions with the emphasis being on the practical.

 

The workshop succeeded to involve the participants in the project activities and made them committed to play their role as watchdog to establish good governance in Rangamati Hill District.

 

A brief inaugural session was held where the participants and facilitators introduced among themselves. Mr. ADM Abdul Baset, Vice-Chairman, Chittagong Hill Tracts Development Board was present as chief guest while Mr. Moung Thowai Ching, Executive Director; Green Hill presided over the inaugural session.

Mr. Md Aktar Uddin and Mr. Md Monzurul Islam from United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) paid a visit to the workshop. The UNDP monitors exchanged views with the training participants and discussed with the SoMaSHTe and PROGGATI team members on the findings of the workshop.
