Candle lighting at International Women’s Day Observation.

International Women’s Day was observed on 07 March 2011 at Shilpakala Academy in Rangamati where discussion meeting, candle lighting, cultural programs were held.It was actively participated by different stakeholders. The discussion meeting mainly focused on women rights issues. Around 110 of women’s activists, media people, NGOs and Civil Society representatives were present on the occasion.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Staff Capacity Building Training

Training session for PROGGATI staffs.

Green Hill-PROGGATI organized six Capacity Building and Leadership Development training sessions for project staffs to establish understanding on project goals, activities, impacts and democracy, good governance and advocacy issues. Total 12 participant; 04 Upazila Project Officers (UPO) and 08 Union Officers (UO) were participated in the training sessions.

 

The training sessions were held in different time from January to June 2011 at Green Hill conference room, Rangamati. The training courses were a combination of theory and practical sessions. Staffs were visited different project areas during training sessions to directly understanding the democracy and governance situation at the community level.

The main outlines of the training course were as follows;

Goal, objectives and activities of PROGGATI project, GH-Vision, Mission, Objectives, GH-Service Rules, Office Management, Financial Management, Report Writing procedure, Leadership and Management, Good Governance and Democracy, conflict management, Advocacy strategies and approaches, Local Government institution (LGI), Human Rights, Gender and PRA.

 

 

 

 

 

PROGGATI Committee formation

Under PROGGATI project Green Hill is working in 240 villages to build capacity among the CBO members to make them aware about their rights.

Green Hill-PROGGATI has formed 240 CBOs (PROGGATI Committee) in 240 villages. The villages are located in four Upazilas and 8 unions in Rangamati Hill Tracts.

The total number of members is 1822 of which female members are 797 (43.74%).  Each PROGGATI committee consists of 7, 9 or 11 members and follows a particular by-law.

 

 

 

 

 

Courtyard Capacity Building Sessions with PROGGATI Committee members

Green Hill-PROGGATI will ensure a total of 864 Courtyard Capacity Building Sessions with 240 CBOs (PROGGATI committee) at village level.

These courtyard sessions will conduct awareness building among CBO members on governance, accountability and transparency. Most of the poor CBO members are not aware about their basic citizen’s rights and do not know how to hold duty-bearers accountable for pro-poor service delivery.

Green Hill will, under the project, strive to ensure public awareness on these issues. These sessions will contribute to increase the confidence of CBO members.

At present (up to September 2011) a total of 144 courtyard capacity building sessions were held in different villages where institution building, governance, leadership, LGI roles, advocacy issues were discussed. Participation of villagers was very good. They expressed their opinion on the issues during the discussion. A total of 2127 villagers including 907 women (42.64%) were present in these courtyard sessions.
